2012遠(yuǎn)東無(wú)損檢測(cè)新技術(shù)論壇學(xué)術(shù)委員會(huì)主席簡(jiǎn)介

Lester W Schmerr Jr，世界無(wú)損檢測(cè)中心聯(lián)合會(huì)秘書(shū)長(zhǎng)；美國(guó)愛(ài)荷華州立大學(xué)航天工程教授，無(wú)損評(píng)價(jià)中心副主任。

個(gè)人簡(jiǎn)歷：自1969年起一直任教于美國(guó)愛(ài)荷華州立大學(xué)，自1989年起擔(dān)任了位于愛(ài)荷華州無(wú)損評(píng)價(jià)中心的副主任；2003年起擔(dān)任了世界無(wú)損檢測(cè)中心聯(lián)合會(huì)的常任秘書(shū)長(zhǎng)。

Schmerr教授的研究主要在在超聲波領(lǐng)域，重點(diǎn)是桿模型、缺陷散射模型以及缺陷尺寸測(cè)量，以及將人工智能方法與神經(jīng)網(wǎng)絡(luò)應(yīng)用到超聲無(wú)損檢測(cè)模式識(shí)別等方面的研究。目前主要研究課題是超聲相控陣體系建模及其在檢測(cè)圖像生成新方法中的應(yīng)用。

學(xué)術(shù)專(zhuān)著與論著：

1、 “超聲無(wú)損評(píng)價(jià)基礎(chǔ)原理—建模方法” 1998年出版；

2、 “超聲無(wú)損評(píng)價(jià)體系—模型與測(cè)量” 2001年出版（與  Sung-Jin Song合著）。

撰寫(xiě)多篇關(guān)于關(guān)超聲波檢測(cè)建模、人工智能方法、神經(jīng)網(wǎng)絡(luò)的超聲檢測(cè)模式識(shí)別的文章、程序和書(shū)籍章節(jié)。

Short Biography:

Professor Schmerr has been a faculty member at Iowa State University since 1969, where he is currently Professor of Aerospace Engineering. He is also served as Associate Director of the Center for Nondestructive Evaluation at Iowa State since 1989 and has been the Permanent Secretary of the World Federation of NDE Centers since 2003. He has published two books: Fundamentals of Ultrasonic Nondestructive Evaluation – A Modeling Approach, Plenum Press, 1998, and with Prof.  Sung-Jin Song,  Ultrasonic Nondestructive Evaluation Systems – Models and Measurements, Springer, 2001. He has published numerous papers, proceedings, and book chapters on ultrasonic NDE modeling and he has applied artificial intelligence methods  and neural networks to ultrasonic NDE pattern recognition problems. His work in ultrasonics has focused on beam modeling, flaw scattering modeling, and flaw sizing. He is currently engaged in modeling ultrasonic phased array systems and their use in new methods of image formation.
